About the Adipose Avengers...

On this picture, unfortunately, all Adipose Avengers had to wear their invisibility cloak.

Meet the Adipose Avengers, a rag-tag group of researchers united by their love for all things fat. The team is led by their fearless leader, the Systems Biologist, Lorenz, who is always on the lookout for new ways to study adipose tissue. He even lectures in economics, because it contains omics. The lab technician, Paulina, keeps the group organised (and well-equipped with cookies 🍪) as the unofficial lab "manager". The Postdoc, Hanna, is our molecular fire-fighter against inflammation in silico & in vivo, while the Computational Clinician Scientist, Christoph, keeps the group grounded in the clinic and at the computer. Last but not least, the Autodidactic Computer Scientist-Turned-Med-School Student, Viktor, brings a unique perspective (and mad coding skills) to the team's investigations. Together, we're on a mission to unlock the secrets of adipose tissue biology and make the world a better place, one pound of fat turning good at a time...

Our Story

Once upon a time, there was a young scientist named Lorenz Adlung, who had a passion for understanding the complexities of human biology. He earned his PhD from the German Cancer Research Center and dove headfirst into the field of systems biology.

After completing his PhD, Lorenz decided to continue his research journey at the Weizmann Institute in Israel as a Postdoctoral Fellow. It was there that he discovered his true calling: studying adipose tissue. He became entranced by the tissue's overlooked potential to improve human health, and he knew he had to explore it further.

So Lorenz became the captain of the Adipose Avengers...

Our Mission

The Adipose Avengers are on a mission to hack fat for human health. By wielding the power of multi-omics experiments and computational modeling, we aim to discover hidden gems in flab to avenge inflammation. So join us as we embark on this exciting journey, where we'll turn fat into facts!
